Choosing View Attributes
Guiffy's compare display is grouped into several styles: matching, inserted,
deleted, changed, selected, line numbers, fillers and folded markers. Each of
these styles has a set of controls for its font and
colors (foreground and background).
"Small" differences in changed lines are displayed in "reverse video" - for example:
Built-in Style selections are provided to show some of the possible looks
which can be created using the Font and Color controls.
Style Options
The Style options dialog provides a choice list of built-in Font and
Color controls.
Choose Options -> Styles to select these controls.
As each selection is made, a preview is updated
which shows all the style types with their font and color attributes
applied. When Apply Font isn't selected, the current Font settings are used.
Choose a Style that's close to your preferences. Then, customize it via
the Font and Color Options. When you've got it just right, Save your
Settings... and your personal Guiffy Style will be preserved for all
your subsequent usage.
Font Options
The Font options dialog controls Guiffy's fonts applied to matching, inserted,
deleted, line numbers, and folded markers text. Choose Options -> Font to select these controls. A font
can be selected for All types of text
and different fonts can be selected for matching,
deleted, inserted, line numbers, or folded marker text. The font, italics, and bold can be
set for each type of text. The font size is applied for all types of text.
As each selection is made, a preview is updated
which shows all the style types with their font and color attributes
applied.
If you are using Guiffy with Unicode or other special encoded file formats, you will
need to use a multilingual Unicode font such as Arial Unicode MS or Bitstream
Cyberbit.
Color Options
The Color options dialog controls Guiffy's Colors applied to matching, inserted,
deleted, selected, line numbers, fillers, and folded marker text. Choose Options -> Color to select these controls. A
background color and foreground color for each type of text can be selected.
A separate attribute for changed background colors is provided.
Color selections can be made from the pallet, using the HSB interface
which includes a point-and-pick display, or the RGB interface with slider
controls. As each selection is made, a preview is updated
which shows all the style types with their color and font attributes
applied.
The variations of themes with colors are almost endless. Just for fun,
try defining a "green screen" with a black background and different
shades of green for matching, deleted and inserted text. Then, try
changing the deleted text to red and inserted text to blue. Now, set
the background to a light gray. Well, you get the idea!
