Instructions for Installing and setup of Guiffy on MacOS X

Installing Guiffy on MacOS X requires no instructions --- just double-click on the installer package downloaded. But, OS X supports multiple Java Runtime releases: 1.3, 1.4, and 1.5. Guiffy works much better using 1.4 or 1.5 runtime releases. After installing Guiffy, run Guiffy and open the Help About dialog. It will display the JRE its using. If its using a 1.3 JRE, follow these instructions for editing the application package to run with the 1.4 or 1.5 JRE:
  1. Control click on guiffy.application
  2. Click on Show Package Contents
  3. Click on Contents folder
  4. Click on Info.plist
  5. Edit Root/Java/JVM Version (double-click on value, set it to 1.4.* or 1.5.*)
NOTE: If your OS X system doesn't have a 1.4 or 1.5 Java runtime installed, they can be downloaded from Java at Apple
